150th Anniversary Committee Report
- September 2007

Ad Astra Per Aspera.

We’re coming out!  We want the world to know and are letting it show!  It’s celebration time so come on as there is no stopping us now.  The start of the new school year on Monday, September 10 marks the beginning of our CELEBRATION TIME and our Preparatory and High School banners are on show.  Here’s a peek ……..….there are more photos on the Logo & Theme Competition page on the website.

Additionally, the Planning Committee is now resident in the 150th Anniversary Headquarters – the Alumnae Office on the campus of the ICHS and come Wednesday, October 24, we go public with the official media launch of the ICPS & ICHS 150th Anniversary celebrations.  Look out for that event which will be the start of the advertising campaign.

Our calendar of events is now finalized and as promised there is something for everyone.  We begin the year with Mass and Brunch, in February we proudly put on show one of our phenomenal women, Professor Yolande Chan (nee Brown) and in March, we will all re-live the ole time St. Patrick’s Day Supper.  The Immaculate family goes golfing in May and come June we honour those who have contributed to our school over the many years of its existence.  Then in July, it’s Homecoming Week and what a party that will be.  September to November we have our outreach project and walkathon and we end the year with a Gala Concert by the Performing Arts of the Immaculate Conception High and Preparatory School.

For the members of the Immaculate Conception family who plan on visiting with us throughout 2008, your Alumnae Chapter Presidents are now in possession of the preferential rates for air travel and accommodation.  Air Jamaica is the official carrier for the 150th Anniversary Lecture Series as well as Homecoming Week in July 2008.  For accommodation, there are five participating hotels: The Courtleigh/Knutsford Court Hotels, the Hilton Hotel, the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, the Terra Nova Hotel and the Constant Spring Hotel (ICHS Hostel).  In order to take advantage of these attractive fares and rates, each interested Alumnae should contact the President of your Alumnae Chapter.  These preferences may only be used for ICHS alumnae and their immediate families.

Invitations to the Mass and tickets for the Brunch will be available as of Monday, September 17, 2007 from Alumnae and the School.  All alumnae who will be attending the Mass and the Brunch on January 13, 2008, should confirm their attendance as soon as possible, as we want to ensure that there is adequate seating especially for those visiting from overseas.

I would like to encourage everyone to visit the ICHSAA website – www.ichsalumnae.net – and view the 150th Anniversary webpage, where you will see our photo album as well as current information on the 150th Anniversary Celebrations.  The Town Crier Flyer reflects the focus of the month and is great to look at.  Enjoy!

Please send your attendance confirmations to the following address: ichs15008@yahoo.com.

See you next month!
