Dear Fellow Alumnae,
Margaret Mead said “Never believe that a few caring people
can’t change the world. For indeed that’s all who ever
have”.
The Florida Chapter has made it our mission to contribute
to the renovation cost of the ICHS Summer House through the
Capital Campaign of the ICHS Development Program.
For us this has been an eventful past ninety days. Starting
with preparation for the Jerk Festival in Fort Lauderdale
on October 23rd, despite the inclement weather
the event was extremely well attended. Neither rain,
thunder or lightening could dampen the optimistic spirit of our ICHS alumnae. We sold out of our baked goods and
generated
excellent sales of the 50/50 Raffle tickets, school house
shirts, polo shirts and ICHS jackets.
It was an ideal
opportunity to remind our alumnae and friends of the
upcoming ICHSAA Games Night. Thank you fellow alumnae for
stopping by the ICHSAA Booth , we appreciate your support
and hope you will be a part of the fundraising efforts next
year.
Games Night on October 6th
was a “ most enjoyable evening,” seeing old classmates
and friends, bingo, dominoes, silent auction food and fun.
Our special guest, the Consul General of Jamaica Ricardo
Allicock, congratulated us on our fundraising efforts to
renovate the ICHS Summer House. The Consul General drew the
winning raffle ticket belonging to E. DeCambre. The second
prize, a digital camera, was won by C. Sailsman.
Thank you Florida Chapter alumnae and friends. Because of
your hard work, we achieved our target goal - to contribute
to Phase I of the ICHS Summer House renovation!
The total cost of the Summer
House renovation is US$55,000. Think of the extraordinary
difference it would make if every alumna contributed to help
us achieve this goal. We have made good progress, but we are
still far from reaching the total cost.
We hope our caring philosophy will take on a deeper meaning,
taking root with some alumnae and spreading to others. Let
us celebrate the beginning success of the “Campaign to
Renovate the ICHS Summer House, “ by each alumna making a
special contribution of whatever amount you are able to
donate.
Privilege and distinction have often been used to
describe the benefits of being an ICHS graduate. We, the
alumnae, have the privilege to show our gratitude and do our
part to keep Immaculate Conception High School THE school of
distinction for young women - today and tomorrow.
We are counting on you. Ad astra per aspera.
With great appreciation and
warmest regards,
Jennifer
