ICPHS DAY AT ISLAND GRILL………..

BOOSTING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

The 150th Anniversary Capital Campaign was significantly boosted when proceeds of J$550,000 from the ICPHS Day at Island Grill, were presented by Island Grill CEO (and ICPHS alumna) Thalia Lyn on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the ICHS weekly Assembly.   Sr. Angella Harris, o.s.f. (ICHS Principal), Yasmin Chong (Alumna and Chairman of the 150th Anniversary Celebrations), teachers and students were on hand to receive the cheque.

Before presenting the cheque, Thalia Lyn stated how proud she was to be an alumna of both the Preparatory and High Schools and encouraged the students to support their school, as the values learnt at this institution are invaluable.  Additionally, she was even prouder on the ICPHS Day at Island Grill when a sea of white was witnessed at several stores in the Island Grill network.

Mrs. Lyn then announced that this was the first contribution from Island Grill to the Capital Campaign as her company is now committed to sponsoring the construction of one classroom (Island Grill classroom) for the new Grades 12/13 classroom block.  Construction for these new classrooms is scheduled to begin in late 2008.

In responding to the presentation, Sr. Angella Harris thanked Thalia Lyn for the very generous contribution to her alma mater and encouraged the students to practice the same sense of commitment and generosity which Mrs. Lyn has consistently displayed to her school, community and the nation at large.

ICHS Day at Island Grill

April 2008

From as early as 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008, the Immaculate family and friends descended upon the many branches of Island Grill in support of our alma mater’s 150th Anniversary.  Our “Prepsters” were the first to receive the delicious ‘jerk’ fare from the Twin Gates store and thanks to our phenomenal woman – Natalia Fong Kong – they enjoyed their lunches at school.

Lunch time for corporate Kingston was met with droves of support on the New Kingston store as alumnae organized their offices to have Island Grill on that Friday.  Then at 12:00 noon, the fun and excitement begun at the Manor Park store, with prizes and surprises and DJ Supa Hype at the controls.   The 150th Anniversary team along with other alumnae, parents, High School students and well-wishers all met at 1:00 p.m. and the camaraderie was at fever pitch.   Good company, good vibes and great music emanated throughout the store and a sea of many familiar faces was present to enjoy this wonderful occasion.  Sr. Maureen Clare, Sr. Helen Rose, Mrs. Meany, Sr. Marita, Natalia Fong Kong, Yasmin Chong, Oraine Russell, Sahran Walters (Island Grill Marketing Manager and ICHPHS alumna), Michelle Welsh and the phenomenal woman herself – Thalia Lyn (Island Grill CEO) – were joined by scores of students and well-wishers during the entire afternoon.   As a token of our appreciation for her very kind offer, a 150th Anniversary Phenomenal Woman plaque was presented to Thalia Lyn during the entertainment feature at the Manor Park store.  Reports came in that the Sovereign store also served a bumper crowd.

So successful a day it was that the Immaculate family is already looking forward to 2009!

The 150th Anniversary Capital Campaign has been boosted by this event and on Monday, May 26, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. during ICHS Assembly, Island Grill CEO and Alumna Thalia Lyn, will present her contribution to Sr. Angella Harris.  The proceeds will go towards the construction of the new classroom block at ICHS.

The 150th Anniversary Planning Committee would like to thank the CEO, management and staff of Island Grill for their very kind support of ICPS and ICHS and wishes for the company, continued success!
