Immaculate 150th Anniversary celebration ends with a Bang!!

Kingston, Jamaica – Monday, December 8, 2008

Sunday, December 7, 2008 saw the curtains come down on what was a fabulous year of activities for the Immaculate Preparatory and High Schools.  In the morning there was a special closing mass in the school cafeteria which also served as the mass celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the schools’ feast day.   Alumna met and greeted each other with those who might have missed the activities earlier in the year.

The stars really came out that same evening – Immaculate stars, that is, when both the Preparatory and High Schools combined to put on a magnificent grand gala. The concert began at 6:00PM in the patio of the high school and featured items from the Prep School choir and choral speaking groups together with the high school dance group, glee club, and steel and concert bands. A special high point of the evening was the ICHS symphony orchestra under the leadership of noted Jamaican musician, Stephen Woodham. They performed by themselves and then later with the combined Immaculate choirs.

Another highlight  of the evening, was the world release of the 150th Anniversary song – We will go on! – lyrics and music composed by ICHS alumna and Concert Band Conductor, Ms. Allison Wallace.

The evening was filled with excellent musical entertainment and dance as this venerable institution brought its celebrations to a tumultuous finale.
